Hi Heather, I have done something similar, which works just fine. 1. used double stick tape (or a product called Tanglefoot) on cards as blunder traps for institutions that do not have the budget to use pre-made traps. 2. Used double stick tape on mylar for areas where you want the blunder traps to be close to invisible (like in open dioramas).
The success rate will be the result of how sticky the tape is. I really like the idea of using a long strip on a threshold. However, you are correct - people might step on it and mess it up. That might come down to training your collection staff to be aware of the strip. Traditional blunder traps often get squished by staff or swept away by maintenance - this is the same kind of challenge. Thank you for bringing this article to my attention - it gives me another strategy to suggest to my students! Hi all, I was reading this Article (https://museumsschaedlinge.de/klebebaender/<https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fmuseumsschaedlinge.de%2fklebebaender%2f&c=E,1,DnmEesHBagP-tKtOzVrsyGyVWLPo_cYmkTm1Rul-DY0Rbv8VK5555c77z0MmjlsNmmxRK9iP0Kei92WXFhLuNS8iOQ_scheV3Q_L2lCmIw,,&typo=1>) and wondered if anyone has tried this. How well did this work? Did it cause any problems with collection staff, and what adhesive tape did you use? I think this would be a great idea to put in our loading doc area if it works well.
