See attached. To me, it does not look like the typical destruction from clothes webbing moths. It seems that the base and the feathers are getting eaten from the inside/underside out, and I don’t see any evidence of frass or casings, just dust from the base. A taxidermist partner suggested it might be bugs like mites and also suggested treating them with insecticide. As this mount is part of the collection, I’m hesitant to treat it with anything over the counter. What do y’all suggest? Is it mites? What’s the best form of treatment?
