I would not balk at any grasses. Flowering or fruiting plants near doors can be
problem with bees and birds. I would be more concerned about having a rock pest
barrier buffer between the plantings and the structure. Just my opinion.

Subject: [PestList] Outdoor planting question

[CAUTION: This message originated from outside the Foundation. Do not click

Dear All,
The Worcester Art Museum is considering planting the following grasses a few
feet away from the museum. I’ve researched the grasses a little to better
understand if they would attract pests that would be of concern to the museum.

Eragrostis Spectabilis (Purple Lovegrass)

Calamagrostis x Acutiflora (Karl Foerster Feather Reed Grass)

The only concern I’ve come across is that Karl Foerster Feather Reed Grass
could be an attractive home for rodents.

If you’re familiar with either of these grasses and know of any other concerns,
I’d be so grateful to learn of your experience.

Many thanks for your consideration,

Warmly, Eliza
