Definitely coffin flies. These can be indicative of a broken sewer pipe or a
dead critter. If they are present in an area with a drop ceiling I would
inspect there. Inspect any crawl spaces or basements for broken or seeping
lines. Check for bodies. Any odd smells nearby?... could be a funky floor drain.

Hello.Christina, a query, are the 3 photos of the same insect? I'm not sure,
but the first one seemed a little different to me in the wing pattern, and the
antennae seem thicker, not so coincident with those of the others. may be?
kind regards, Nelci

Hello!

I´m responsible for the IPM at the Bavarian State Collection for
Palaeoanatomy (Munich, Southern Germany) and since a couple of weeks I
noticed an increased appearance of some sort of fly or wasp in our
traps. The insects are about 1 to 3mm in length (body), most of them
range between 1 and 2mm. My pictures aren´t good, I know. Maybe somebody
can help me with the identification in spite of their quality.

Thanks a lot for your time,

Christina Günther
Technical assistant at the Bavarian State Collection for Palaeoanatomy
