Hi Katy
This is not a Cigarette Beetle (*Lasioderma*). I think it more likely to be
one of the Cryptophagidae or Mycetophagidae (sometimes called the Minute
Fungus Beetles). They often crop up when newly plastered walls develop a
coat of fungal mycelia as they dry. So recent building work might be the
source. Alternatively they can be found in birds' nests, on dung, rotting
wood, fungi, compost, etc. If you only find the two, regard them as
accidental visitors. If lots more turn up, it could indicate a building
problem.
