Hello Volker,

I’m afraid because of the location (government department), I was not permitted
to take pictures or get close enough to examine it. The contractor is Rentokil,
and all the information that the technician was able to provide me with was
that it is a sticky trap, and uses yeast as a lure. As I say, I’ve not
encountered this type of trap before and would like to determine if it’s
particularly useful in the event of silverfish infestation, or it’s just a
general purpose-type trap.

Thanks,

Amy.

dear amy,

what kind of sticky trap is it?
please tell us the name and company of the trap –
and send us a picture.

there are so many different sticky traps in use:
some have only glue on top - others use different kind of food attractans
often they use plant an animal proteins.

as far as I know contains dried yeast around 40 % protein, 7 % fat and 40 %
carbohydrates.
so this is nothing special…

best regards

Betreff: [PestList] Yeast traps

Hello Everyone,

I am working with a Place of Deposit who have an ongoing silverfish
infestation. They are employing a commercial IPM contractor who are placing
sticky traps that have a yeast lure inside them. I can’t seem to find much
information about yeast in relation to pest management – has anyone come across
anything like this before? Are they particularly successful for use with
silverfish? Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Amy.
