On their backs mean they are in the process of dying either from a treatment if you are doing an exterior perimeter spray, other treatments in the building, or just from them desiccating. At 55% they should not get "settled in" unless there are micro climates due to leaks or moisture issues. Sounds like they may be coming down into the space from an electrical or plumbing chase. If there are any floor drains make sure they are not dried up and rehydrate if they are. You can also place more sticky traps around to maybe pinpoint a location of where they are getting in. JTV

Just out of curiosity for future reference, how does this differ from finding them on their backs or running? One of the spaces has an atrium that sticks out aboveground in a grassy/rocky area. [CAUTION: This message originated from outside the Foundation. Do not click links, open attachments or take action unless you know the contents are safe] Hi all, I cannot get the MuseumPests site to work right now so I thought I would reach out to your expertise with some questions. I have recently found two Oriental cockroaches in collection spaces, and I am nervous about potential damage to collections. That being said, I also want to know more about how cockroach treatments affect library collections. Does anyone know if there has been any research done on various treatments for cockroach extermination and whether any of these are detrimental towards library/museum objects? Thank you in advance!
