Hi Stephen,

Many thanks for your input.

Size circa 6 mm
Mottled appearance, brown with light yellow.

It is in an attic in a Tudor house. There has been an infestation of Death
Watch beetles in a window frame before, 2015, which was treated.

There are exit holes there, but none look new. I cannot see any fresh frass.

I am sorry about the photos. I haven’t got a microscope or a camera with a
macro lens. ☹

Looking at the Anobiidae images online – my little critter does not have
‘lines’ on the body.

It looks much more like the Xestobium. Only it has been on the trap for a while
and legs and antenna are not so visible.

As long as it is definitely something I should flag to property maintenance
services then I will go ahead and ask for them to get an expert in.

Kind regards

Pernille

Pernille,

looks like Anobiidae and could be Xestobium, if the size of the beetles is
about 5...9mm. But difficult to say, with these pictures.
Any damp wood with exit holes arround?

Best
Stephan

Hi,

Apologies for the poor images, but could you help me ID the critters below.
Could they be Death Watch beetles?

I am not a specialist and would worry about crying wolf unnecessarily.

Really appreciate any views.
