Hi,
you can ask Darren Mann in the UK, but he might be hard to reach:
https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Darren-Mann-3
other option is Prof Zahradnik:
https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Petr-Zahradnik-2
I guess you know this paper but I am not sure who did the ID
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/335084223_Primeros_registros_de_Tricorynus_herbarius_Gorham_Coleoptera_Ptinidae_en_Peru_y_Chile
you can also wirite Tricorynus herbarius cf = cf stands for: will be confirmed, I did it like that before when I was not 100% sure with the ID of a species
All the best with you samples,

Betreff: [PestList] T. herbarius ID corroboration
Dear everyone,
As you might remember since we presented in Pest Odyssey last year, we have been carrying out investigations with Tricorynus herbarius beetles in Lima in Peru. Our masters thesis student has run into a wall with her final ID approval to get her thesis through.
The insect sample that was supposedly deposited by foreign entomologists at the local museum is nowhere to be found (possibly COVID complications) and we don't have any local Ptinidae specialists here who could approve her ID without a sample comparison.
Do any of you know any Ptinidae specialists who would be willing to look at the student's ID, maybe look through her photos so that she can have her ID corroborated for her thesis? I am told her university will accept a corroboration even if it's done through Zoom with high-quality photos because sending samples out of Peru is rather bureaucratic. The only thing required would be for the specialist to allow her to say in her thesis that they checked her ID and agree with it. She is currently in conversations with an entomologist in Argentina who published on T. herbarius before, but since it might end up having to be online only, it would help her a lot to have another person as well. Worst case scenario, she would be forced to leave it as sp., which would be a sad outcome for so much work.
Thank you very much for any information you might have on this!
All the best from Peru,
Angelica Isa
