Hi Chris,
It looks like an odd beetle (Thylodrias contractus), which is part of the
dermestid family, as is the carpet beetle. It is probably a first or second
instar – meaning that it hatched recently. To my knowledge, there are no lures
specifically for this critter. I recommend cleaning the area where you found
it and increasing your blunder traps in that area.

Please remember that lures have limited use: 1) These are pheromone lures that
attract the male of the species only; 2) can help in determining how bad an
infestation is; 3) will *not* eliminate an infestation. There may be a general
dermestid lure – contact Insects Unlimited to find out.

Gretchen

Subject: * [PestList] Larva ID

Hello All,

I infrequently catch a larva which others have helped identify as a varied
carpet beetle. This one seems just a little bit different although I think I
can see the beginnings of tufts at the back end. This one is 1mm in length. I
want to purchase some lures and want to make sure I get the right ones.

Chris
