Hi folks
Further to Rehan one of the pieces of research I undertook in a previous job
was testing Escal and Marvelseal and they heat seal together very well
You are able to make a saving by making a bag using a base of Marvelseal
(effectively underneath the object) and then an Escal top so you can see the
object.
Alas the research was not published but was part of my heat sealer research.
Hope that is of use

Hi,

We use Ageless but have transitioning to using more of the RP system by
Mitsubishi. They come with two options, either with a desiccant or without.
Particularly found of them as they absorb VOC in the bag which I think would
help with stopping the creating of a acidic microenvironment in the bag.

The escal plastic they use as well is very good, they do rate it for a 10 year
life span as well, with minimal gas transfer. Its the best clear plastic we
have been able to source here in Australia.

We tend to bag with structures in the bag to stop the shrinking on the object
wherever possibly, just have to be careful the structure doesn't ripe the bag
when it does shrink.

We have also use prosorb in our bags to assist with humidity control. We havent
done any testing around this to see if it is the best option but it does give
us some piece of mind for the moment.

Hope this helps!

Hi Angelica, We typically build a skeletal frame around dimensional objects
with enough leeway to allow for shrinking. We have found PVC pipe and
connections to be easy to use and customize, and because it is round, it is
less likely to pop a hole in your Marvelseal while preparing for treatment. We
also remove as much oxygen as possible with our Nilfisk vac prior to sealing
the bag. Currently we are only using the frames for anoxic treatment purposes,
not storage, so I am unsure of long term use.

Thank you, Jo! Do you just make bigger bags to account for the shrinkage?

they work really well for larger bags. We also use Hanwell’s oxygen

Dear everyone,

I hope you're all well. I have a question about Ageless. Do any of you use it
for anoxia? We don't currently have the capabilities to set up a thing with
tanks and gases, so we're going to try to bag our mummy bundles with Ageless
(those Tricorynus are at it). I am just not 100% sure on which type to use.

I saw on the Mitsubishi Ageless brochure that they have one called GE which
also emits CO2 as it absorbs oxygen to avoid the bag shrinking. Has anybody
used this? It sounds like a really good idea to try to me? Otherwise, which
type would you recommend if I have to make rather big bags and our normal RH
here is about 65-70% at the moment?

Thank you for your thoughts!

Best,

Angelica
