Dear Pest List, We are considering treating a group of artworks in a controlled atmosphere with nitrogen including framed oil paintings, framed pastel, watercolor, pen and ink, and graphite works on paper, wooden objects, and stone sculptures, several of which have pest activity. I know this may be a tough question to respond to without specifics - have folks observed any deleterious effects to any of these materials from this treatment? I have read about the possible effects to certain unbound pigments and am wondering if there is anything else to be aware of? Many thanks in advance for your help!
