Tony,
that´s a good point with the square of 10 to 15mm. Than it should be a fly
species bigger than Thaumatomyia.

While Thaumatomyia had crossed my mind, they are only 2 to 3 mm long. That
would mean that the wire grid in the glass could only be 5 mm square, and I've
never come across any of that dimension - it's normally 10 to 15 mm square
minimum..

Hi Adie,

my first thougth was the Yellow swarming fly Thaumatomyia notata. After Greg
Fee said the same, I would say it´s Thaumatomyia notata at this place.
2015 I wrote a practical report about this swarming fly in South Germany
(Bavaria).

Best and see you Online next week :- )

Betreff: [PestList] unidentified insects between window panes

Folks
We have a collection of dead insects which have found their way between two
panes of glass in a skylight window
We cant get to them without breaking the glass
I suspect these are desiccated, bleached by the sun, drain flies but would
value any extra thoughts.
I’m concerned how they got in sandwiched between the glass and we have a
collection in the store below which may be at risk
Regards
Adie
