This insect is not “attacking” the sculpture. I would say, the infestation which lead to the bore holes / galleries took place while the tree still was standing (= alive). (due to the shape of the bore holes and the orientation of the cracks) The insect in the picture is more likely “using” the holes. Mr. Biebl, do you agree on that?
