Yes, the beetle is a scarab but a member of another subfamily, Cetoniinae, and genus Osmoderma. Head has a spur near the eye and the shape of the pronotum is more like the unknown beetle. The elytra are somewhat flattened at their bases and shortened, the abdomen (pygidium) is exposed; the scutellum is large and exposed.
