Hi again all, Regarding the green light traps, would they have any effect on clothes moths? We have had an ongoing low level of Tinea Pellionella in one of our storage warehouses. Most of what I’ve read says that clothes moths are not attracted to light, however we have found several in a UV light trap placed in a temporary exhibition space on the same site. I’m wondering if the UV-free green light trap could be a good method to target them in the storage area?
Thanks! Thank you both for your replies. Fascinating. I'm looking forward to reading more from the sources you provided. In our storage spaces we have to be careful with light traps, as not everything is housed behind completely opaque protection. Will be looking into it more. Without UV-A-radiation you could use commercial “green light tubes” to attract insects with less effectiveness than traditional UV-lights. In some German churches we are testing green light for the common furniture beetle and we have good experiences by catching powderpost-beetles inside storage rooms with this new alternative light trap. An overview of different light traps with UV-light, green-light, normal light or new LED-light you could find at our website https://museumsschaedlinge.de/lichtfallen/<https://aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmuseumsschaedlinge.de%2Flichtfallen%2F&data=04%7C01%7Cjessie.gray%40maas.museum%7C9886d571121c45b3c76208d8d858fed8%7Cf79de197ce3a4a85b26770dc8885a2c8%7C1%7C0%7C637497224053158673%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=rNwGa2sUbqLhVZ2%2B9IGVtZkL732hcfQeFyzgjCxRmgA%3D&reserved=0> Best, Stephan Consultant Expert for IPM Germany www.museumsschaedlinge.de<https://aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.museumsschaedlinge.de%2F&data=04%7C01%7Cjessie.gray%40maas.museum%7C9886d571121c45b3c76208d8d858fed8%7Cf79de197ce3a4a85b26770dc8885a2c8%7C1%7C0%7C637497224053158673%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=OyteUVP%2BOGafPj3yIVgthmR4uhBRRwBpJZp%2F3cBK4%2F4%3D&reserved=0> Von: pest...@googlegroups.com <pest...@googlegroups.com> Im Auftrag von jmci...@famsf.org Gesendet: Donnerstag, 18. Hello, Pestlist I am curious about the green light traps that are mentioned in this article describing the Louvre's new storage facility. The article doesn't go into much detail, but does say that the "Green lighting fixtures trap and kill bugs like the common furniture beetle.". Is anyone familiar with this green light, and in what ways (if any) is it different than your standard UV light trap? https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/12/arts/design/louvre-lievin-conservation-center.html?action=click&module=Features&pgtype=Homepage<https://aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2021%2F02%2F12%2Farts%2Fdesign%2Flouvre-lievin-conservation-center.html%3Faction%3Dclick%26module%3DFeatures%26pgtype%3DHomepage&data=04%7C01%7Cjessie.gray%40maas.museum%7C9886d571121c45b3c76208d8d858fed8%7Cf79de197ce3a4a85b26770dc8885a2c8%7C1%7C0%7C637497224053168631%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=W%2BvuA9xDxcllWhGnSwWD0qNSY7L38Oktpzr24%2F6ZzaU%3D&reserved=0> Best, Julie McInnis Collection Care Specialist Fine Arts Museums San Francisco -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MuseumPests" group.
