Hi Todd,

because eggs sticks usually just on protein textiles, I would clean (only for
safety) the non-moth-materials just mechanical with wiping or maybe vacuum
cleaning and visual inspection on larvae or pupal.
Eggs couldn´t survive longer times without food source, so you have to look on
the passive stages (pupal/larvae) of the WCM inside the room, e.g. at the skirt
boards or other cracks.
Empty rooms (without objects) could treaten e.g. with heat (or warm-air
+50-60°C), if you fear about the “Trojan Horse” inside the storage room.

Best regards , Stephan

Betreff: [PestList] Webbing Moth "Cleaning Solution"

Hello Group-

A storage room is being cleared out that shows signs of webbing clothes moths.
All fabrics/protein in the room are going to be frozen, but there are also
other "non-moth friendly materials". We want to be cautious and "treat" every
object that is taken out of the room to not create a Trojan Horse type scenario.
I am wondering if- for non-collection/non-moth friendly materials (formica
covered wood, glass, ceramics etc), if there is a solution that can be mixed up
and used to wipe down these objects that is proven to be effective against moth
eggs/larvae. (water and dish soap/Orvus?) Wiping these objects down may seem
like overkill, but we just don't want to take the risk there may be eggs/larvae
hidden/stuck somewhere on these materials.

If anyone has any ideas, I would be interested in hearing them.
Thanks!
-Todd
