Dear Vedatunaldi,

I'd recommend that the carpets and rugs be rendered free of any pests prior to
long term storage. This may be accomplished with heat, freezing or very careful
use of pesticides if needed.

For long term storage, consider clear polyethylene bags or Tyvek sleeves. These
should be well sealed to exclude any pests, and the contents reexamined
periodically to ensure the contents have remained free of damage and pests.

I'm sure others on this list will offer specifics or alternatives that might be
as or even more practical.

Subject: [pestlist] Protective fabric types

Hello to everyone,
It may not be appropriate for this group, but I need your help on a topic.
Do you know the types of protective fabrics used in the storage of historical
carpets and rugs in museums? What kind of fabrics should be preferred? Do you
have a book, article or website suggestion? Thank you,
