In photos 3 & 4, the large, winged black ants are carpenter ant queens.  You
can easily tell by the flat-topped thorax. Tom Parker  -----Original

Subject: [pestlist] Moth parasites and swarm? Dear all,
I hope you can help me out with this.
The pictures called MothParasites1 and 2 were the result of me taking some case
moth cases and putting them into a small container with holes in them with some
of the rat poison we had been putting out because I wanted to confirm that the
moths were indeed eating the poison. I had found some turquoise coloured frass
associated with cases in some traps. However, I came back after two months and
instead found those two wasp-like insects in there and was hoping someone might
be able to identify them.
The pictures called Swarm 1 and 3 were literally found in a very large swarm in
the materials storage space all over some cardboard boxes when we cleaned out
the area. There is nothing else in that storage space other than boxes, bags,
tools, paper, Ethafoam rolls, etc. I have no idea what they are or why they
would have been present in such large numbers in that space. I don't think
they'd be a museum pest, but I wonder if they eat museum pests?
Thank you!
