On the other hand, I *do* think these should live in their own packages
and be aliased into the global namespace.  Perhaps generic open could
just search a path for handlers as in the original RFC:

    use open :path<URI File>;

But in general I wouldn't mind seeing things like:

    $handle = open URI: $uri;
    $handle = Pipe.open([$prog, @args], :rw);
