If the prefix-less form of filehandles was absent from Perl 6, I would be far less enthusiastic about my RFC. I agree; they're a kind of scalar. (Just occurred to me that one could view the % prefix of hashes as denoting a key-value pair by virtue of looking like two o's separated by a divider.
