Certainly checking for $ENV{DISPLAY} is trivial; that leaves the GLU check. Is there a reliable place to find libGLU? Is it guaranteed to be in /usr/lib ? What is the correct capitalization under cygwin? For that matter, is the cygwin libGLU a .so or a .dll? In other words, is the following a sufficient check? $using_x11_mesa = defined $ENV{DISPLAY} && -e '/usr/lib/libGLU.so'; Hmmm. Will the cygwin libGLU work without using X11? (Do we have to check for $ENV{DISPLAY} there?) What do we do if the user has both libGLU and glu32 installed? -'f
