October 2003 was a long time ago,maybe it builds fine now but back then it didn't because make was picking the wrong make rule to build some of the imcc files. I don't think icu was even being built as part of parrot back then was it? If icu becomes optional(which I think is part of the plan) then I'll check if parrot will *now* build without icu using freebsd make. -- Our goal is to completely utilize virtual data because that is what the customer expects
