Putting the "I am not a C programmer" excuse aside for
a minute, I would like to help.
Since I am your eyes and hands for the Cygwin
platform, let me know what the best approach is as my
naive method would be peppering the code with a bunch
of printf statements to see where variable values
deviated from my expectations.
