   What's the status of this ticket now? From the last message here, it
   looks like maybe a solution was found (or an offending commit isolated).
   Does this still fail? If not, we can close this ticket.

I believe chromatic resolved this in a spate of GC hackery last spring.
I'm not sure exactly when, but I haven't been bothered by it in a while.
