This is due to the fact that there are items in runtime/library that use the syntax: new .Foo and new Foo instead of the now-standard "new Foo". I am unsure why this works in single stream mode, but I was able to duplicate this on a different file in runtime/ with a 'make -j 3' The fix is to go through runtime and update all usages of new to the current syntax.
