Hi Folks, You may have noticed lots of RT traffic on very old and stale bugs. What's going on is that I've foolishly volunteered to try to sweep out and tidy up Parrot's bug tracker. Living in the tropics has taught me the extreme importance of dealing with a bug problem before it gets out of hand.
It's been my experience that once the signal to noise ratio in a bug tracker gets beyond a certain point developers simply stop paying attention to it. A good way of keeping things tidy is through ticket ownership. My short term goal is to close the stale bugs and to assign owners for bugs where it's obvious who the responsible party should be. Over the next few weeks I'll be sending out pings on bugs older then 3 or 4 months. Please bare with me on this, a large part of this effort is pestering people for information. The Gentoo project has a group refereed to as 'Bug Wranglers' that check bugs as they are filed. Primarily this is to weeding out duplicates and making sure that bugs assigned to a developer. The speed of response and the level of 'bug ownership' makes dealing with Gentoo a wonderful experience for end users. I think in the long term it would be great to rustle up a few Parrot Bug Wranglers. Cheers, -J --
