I should've included this in my previous post...and write it now simply to promote clarity/completeness: My response in #19212 was intended to show that the side-effect problems being described don't exist, and therefore there isn't any need for "side-effect protections" such as the ones being proposed. I didn't mean to imply that they would be needed but not available. Pm
