That's just a corallary to "tests can't prove there are no bugs".

But just in looking through the coverage for tiny points that I missed
caused me to look at code that I've long ignored, like the failure
diagnostic code for is_deeply(). Something I prefer not to look at.
It caused me to tidy a few things up and yes, in covering the 4th possible
outcome of an xor condition I found ANOTHER BUG.
https://rt.cpan.org/NoAuth/Bug.html?id=8865

Minor, but still a bug. I even spotted a test that said this sort of
outcome was ok.

In the end, its a tool. Like all tools its not so much the tool but the
hand that wields it.

Whether I specify configure options or not I always end up with the same
result:

configure: creating ./config.status
config.status: creating Makefile
sed: file /tmp/cseL8232/subs-2.sed line 32: Unterminated `s' command
config.status: creating config.h
config.status: executing depfiles commands

%> ls -la Makefile
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 0 Dec 14 21:30 Makefile

I've search google and the mailing list a bunch and only came up with a
libtoolize option in the qmailadmin directory which results in:

%> libtoolize
Remember to add `AC_PROG_LIBTOOL' to `configure.in'.
Using `AC_PROG_RANLIB' is rendered obsolete by `AC_PROG_LIBTOOL'
You should update your `aclocal.m4' by running aclocal.
libtoolize: `config.guess' exists: use `--force' to overwrite
libtoolize: `config.sub' exists: use `--force' to overwrite
libtoolize: `ltmain.sh' exists: use `--force' to overwrite

 From here I'm a bit stumped as to what to do next. I should note that I'm
not only having this problem with qmailadmin but I am also having this
problem with vqadmin. Everything else in my qmail install has gone on
without a hitch thus far. Anyone got any ideas that I might be able to try
to get around this problem? Oh yeah, I've also tried and older version and
came up with the same results.

I knew there was a reason we put those messages in there.

I'll take a look at the RPM build process, and update it if I can figure out
where it went wrong.

After some experimentation, it seems that if I use load Apache::DBI while using
my own PerlChildInitHandler that indeed database connection that time out do
get reconnected (as expected). I'm still at a loss as to why 'connect_on_init'
does not work for me.

Does it really say '192.168..0.4'?

There are two fullstops there. What is the contents of that myiaxy.conf
file?

Greaatttt....NOW you send this out. This looks awesome, and we just bought
iMail a month ago. That really sucks because I agree that this looks a lot
better and a lot cheaper. Oh well, I guess it's something to consider for the
future.

Subject: Re: Mail Server Software

HostMySite.com is converting over from IpSwitch Imail Server to SmarterTools
SmarterMail as of TOMORROW. I'm the email administrator for HMS, and let me
tell you I will breath a sigh of relief when we get this up and running and all
of our 30 or so Imail servers migrated over. We've done some prelim testing
and found SmarterMail to be far better than Imail in the performance
department.  Two big considerations:

1. Imail's webmail client vs SmarterMail webmail
It's like comparing the fake rock you gave your first wife to the Hope Diamond.

2. Imail stores the email for each folder in a single text-format .mbx file.
This can result in some HUGE files that degrade server performance considerably
(thing fragmentation). Smartermail on the other hand stores emails as they are
meant to be - a separate file for each.

3. Did I mention the web interface?

Here's a sample for you:

http://www.hostmysite.com/smartermaildemo
E-mail Address: demo@ hostmysite.com
Password: demo

  If you have any other questions about SmarterMail, let me know I'll be happy
to clarify.

Subject: Sakit Mata (tolong dikirim ke milis balita-anda)

Dear Mom&Dads,

THN, pencegahan or pengobatan masih melalui kemoterapi, tetapi kalo

dgn foto anak2 yg lain, biasanya kalo red eyes timbul flash merah kecil
huruf or benda kepada mereka dgn menutup salah satu matanya), Munculnya

miliser nggak menyadari anak2 kita sering mengkonsumsi makanan
kecil/snack or fastfood yg biasa dibeli di mall2 or supermaket, makanan2

Sekali lagi waspada dgn kejanggalan anak2 kita baik tingkah laku or
pertumbuhannya.

Regards,
RC

kanker. Orang tua yang mengetahui anaknya terdeteksi penyakit kanker
kerap mundur dari terapi yang ditentukan dokter. Kebanyakan juga lebih
suka anaknya ditangani melalui pengobatan alternatif.
mencapai tahap lanjut.=20
Berdasarkan catatan International Confederation of Childhood Cancer
(Depkes), penderita kanker setiap tahunnya diperkirakan mencapai 100
penderita baru di antara 100.000 penduduk. Dengan jumlah penduduk 200
juta, maka diperkirakan setiap tahunnya ditemukan sekitar 200.000
anak lelaki. Orang tua sebaiknya waspada kalau menemui anaknya sering
merasa lesu, pucat, demam yang tak jelas sebabnya, nyeri tulang,
pendarahan abnormal atau benjolan pada kulit. Sebab semua ini adalah
gejala leukimia.

bagian tengah mata mirip mata kucing, sebaiknya segera waspada.
gejala mirip tumor otak.
Anak usia lima hingga tujuh tahun tercatat sebagai penderita kanker
kelenjar getah bening yang tertinggi. Dibanding anak perempuan, anak
usia 3,5 tahun. Gejalanya meliputi kencing berdarah, rasa tak enak di
dalam perut dan perut mengeras. Pernah pula ditemukan kasus kanker ini
pada orang dewasa.
Sementara kanker otot lurik menyerang anak usia lima tahun.
(mer)

Greaatttt....NOW you send this out. This looks awesome, and we just bought
iMail a month ago. That really sucks because I agree that this looks a lot
better and a lot cheaper. Oh well, I guess it's something to consider for the
future.

E-mail Address: demo@ hostmysite.com
Password: demo

  If you have any other questions about SmarterMail, let me know I'll be happy
to clarify.

 New Comment:

Thank you for taking the time to report a problem with PHP.
Unfortunately you are not using a current version of PHP --
the problem might already be fixed. Please download a new
PHP version from http://www.php.net/downloads.php

If you are able to reproduce the bug with one of the latest
versions of PHP, please change the PHP version on this bug report
to the version you tested and change the status back to "Open".
Again, thank you for your continued support of PHP.

And it's not our problem if someone doesn't update..

Previous Comments:
------------------------------------------------------------------------

[2004-05-10 21:55:22] risearch at risearch dot org

The output is

=====================
4.3.4
done
=====================

Server info: FreeBSD 4.9-STABLE #0: Thu Jan i386
I don't know more details because it is not my server.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

[2004-05-10 18:57:44] [EMAIL PROTECTED]

On the server where you encounter the problem, run this script and
paste the output here:

<?php
echo phpversion() . "\n";
foreach(array("\x00D" => 1) as $k => $v) {
    echo bin2hex($k);
};
echo "done\n";
?>

------------------------------------------------------------------------

[2004-05-10 18:38:52] risearch at risearch dot org

The bug is in arrays. When you iterate through whole array some of the
keys (which has "\x00" as first character) returned by

foreach ($arr as $k => $v)

are incorrect. Empty string is returned in $k.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

[2004-05-10 18:29:57] [EMAIL PROTECTED]

What exactly is the bug?
In the arrays or in the contents of the file?
How are you testing it?
(you need to be more specific if you want someone else to be able to
reproduce it)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

[2004-05-10 18:23:25] risearch at risearch dot org

Description:
------------
I use PHP on WinXP and Linux box. Older versions had bug with array
keys starting wuth "\x00" character. Now there is no such bug on my
computers (WinXP/Apache/php-4.3.4-Win32 & php-4.3.6-Win32 or
Linux/Apache 1.3.29/PHP 4.3.4), but some of the script's users complain
that script works on Windows box but does not on server. So, I guess
that some of the versions still have this bug (like
MacOSX/Apache/PHP4.3.2 or BSD/Apache/PHP4.3.4, as reported by users).

Reproduce code:
---------------
$key = "\x00\x00";
$arr[$key] = 1;
$key = "\x00\x44";
$arr[$key] = 2;
$key = "\x44\x44";
$arr[$key] = 3;

$fp = fopen("test","wb");
foreach ($arr as $k => $v) {
fwrite($fp,"'$k' => $v\n");
}

Expected result:
----------------
'\x00\x00' => 1
'\x00D' => 2
'DD' => 3

/* instead of "\x00" zero-character should be written to file */

Actual result:
--------------
'' => 1
'' => 2
'DD' => 3

------------------------------------------------------------------------

No, you don't need to use the other modules.

If you use the SPF filter module, of course you need to install the
Mail::SPF::Query Perl module, as suggested in the "recommends" section o=
f
the META.yml file in the Courier::Filter package.

Science, engineering Ph.D. numbers buck downturn
Ed Frauenheim, Staff Writer, CNET News.com

Is the United States really losing its technology
edge? A rise in science and engineering Ph.D.s awarded
might ease some worries.

U.S. universities awarded 25,258 science and
engineering doctorates from July 1, 2002, to June 30,
2003, according to data published this month by the
National Science Foundation. That's a 2.8 percent rise
from the 24,571 doctorates awarded the previous year,
reversing a downward trend that began after a 1998
peak of 27,278.

Production of science and engineering doctorates in
the United States is seen by some as vital to the
country's technological leadership, given the way
fundamental research can translate into new products
and even industries.

The post-Internet-bubble drop in new doctorates has
caused concern, as has the degree to which research
projects these days are seen as too safe or less
likely to lead to dramatic breakthroughs.

A more recent worry centers on a decline in enrollment
of international graduate students in the United
States. Foreigners historically have earned a large
percentage of technology-related doctorates. According
to NSF data, foreign students with temporary visas
comprised 55 percent of the 5,265 engineering Ph.D.s
last year.

Not everyone thinks the number of Ph.D.s awarded is
critical to the country's global competitiveness. Some
observers argue that the country already has plenty of
doctorates and that a drop in foreign students isn't
cause for alarm.

"It's not clear to me that just looking at production
of Ph.D.s is a good way of assessing innovation," Ron
Hira, a public-policy professor at the Rochester
Institute of Technology, said in an August interview
with CNET News.com.

Moreover, some view the currently large proportion of
foreigners in U.S. graduate programs as a source of
trouble--such as fewer openings for Americans.
"(Universities) have preferred foreign students over
American students," said John Miano, founder of The
Programmers Guild activist group.

The number of doctorates awarded from U.S.
universities in all fields increased 1.9 percent last
year, to 40,710, according to NSF.
