This is a small subset of PMCs enumerating *current* scalars. I can't imagine that e.g. tcl is happy, when a tcl scalar falls back to a morphing variant of a Perl scalar. OTOH just doing the math operations would be fine. So what's the distance?
Most definitely, I'd pitch a fit, at least at the moment. Which, honestly, I should probably NOT do in the long term, if we want to be all interoperable and stuff. Once I get the compiler working (instead of the interpreter), I'll see about being a little more forgiving.
(Making good progress on cleaning up the parser/interpreter separation which will make writing a braindead compiler much easier)
