A Kakapo is a flightless night parrot: http://www.kakapo.net/en/. So leaping Kakapo does make a kind of sense. "kaka" is the Maori word for parrot. Po must be Maori for night. The mountain kaka is carnivorous. It has been known to attack and kill lambs and pigs. Kakapo is also a combination of kaka and pooh. -Which are words loaded with other meanings...
