Debugging configuration problems is a major problem. See e.g. the thread: configure on windows
Therefor I just added a switch --verbose to Configure.pl. It does two things. First it outputs all changes to configuration data so you can trace the effects of the individual tests. Second it shows the commandline of all externally run (test)programs and also its output.
