Win32 summary:
* 2 I/O tests fail
* There are various local variable not used warnings, plus some missing
casts.
Want me to go through and find track the source of these warnings down? I
figured the unused variable ones may be due to somebody's work in progress,
which is why I haven't just gone ahead and done a patch for it.
