Ok, they're "fixed". The IO examples shouldn't have seg faulted, but
they were feeding bad IO PMCs to their read ops. I added a (skipped)
test to check for them doing the right thing. Except that the expected
output in that test is wrong, but I don't know what the exception test
should look like.
