Found a problem:

  perl -e "print 0123"

gives: 83

  perl -e "print 0c0123"

gives:

Bareword found where operator expected at -e line 1, near "0c123"
        (Missing operator before c0123?)
syntax error at -e line 1, next token ???
Execution of -e aborted due to compilation errors.

In perl5, octel is signified by the leading zero. There is no 0c0123
notation.
