I am compiling Parrot under Solaris 8 using gcc. - I get lots of warnings about "padding struct to align 'whatever'" "padding struct size to alignment boundary" etc - During the 'make', just after doing 'gcc -o parrot...', it then does: ================================================= cd docs && make && cd .. perldoc -u ../packfile.c > packfile-c.pod Unknown option: u perlman [-h] PageName|ModuleName... -h Display this help message. PageName|ModuleName... is the name of a piece of documentation that you want to look at. You may either give a descriptive name of the page (as in the case of `perlfunc') or the name of a module, either like `Term::Info', `Term/Info'. Any switches in the PERLDOC environment variable will be used before the command line arguments. *** Error code 2 make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `packfile-c.pod' Current working directory /opt/perl_src/parrot/docs *** Error code 1 make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `docs/.dummy' ======================================================== I assume that this is something to do with documentation. If I do 'make test', all tests that are not skipped pass. I ran Configure.pl with Perl 5.8.0 and it is not in my path. The version of Perl that is in my path is 5.005_03. I don't know if this makes a difference. Information from the perl I used for Configure.pl follows: ======================================================= $ /opt/perl/bin/perl -V Summary of my perl5 (revision 5.0 version 8 subversion 0) configuration: Platform: osname=solaris, osvers=2.8, archname=sun4-solaris uname='sunos rigel 5.8 generic_108528-13 sun4u sparc sunw,ultra-5_10 ' config_args='' hint=recommended, useposix=true, d_sigaction=define usethreads=undef use5005threads=undef useithreads=undef usemultiplicity=undef useperlio=define d_sfio=undef uselargefiles=define usesocks=undef use64bitint=undef use64bitall=undef uselongdouble=undef usemymalloc=n, bincompat5005=undef Compiler: cc='gcc', ccflags ='-fno-strict-aliasing -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64', optimize='-O', cppflags='-fno-strict-aliasing' ccversion='', gccversion='3.0.3', gccosandvers='solaris2.8' intsize=4, longsize=4, ptrsize=4, doublesize=8, byteorder=4321 d_longlong=define, longlongsize=8, d_longdbl=define, longdblsize=16 ivtype='long', ivsize=4, nvtype='double', nvsize=8, Off_t='off_t', lseeksize=8 alignbytes=8, prototype=define Linker and Libraries: ld='gcc', ldflags =' -L/usr/local/lib ' libpth=/usr/local/lib /usr/lib /usr/ccs/lib libs=-lsocket -lnsl -ldl -lm -lc perllibs=-lsocket -lnsl -ldl -lm -lc libc=/lib/libc.so, so=so, useshrplib=false, libperl=libperl.a gnulibc_version='' Dynamic Linking: dlsrc=dl_dlopen.xs, dlext=so, d_dlsymun=undef, ccdlflags=' -Wl,-E' cccdlflags='-fPIC', lddlflags=' -Wl,-E -G -L/usr/local/lib' Characteristics of this binary (from libperl): Compile-time options: USE_LARGE_FILES Built under solaris Compiled at Aug 7 2002 16:10:20 @INC: /opt/perl/lib/5.8.0/sun4-solaris /opt/perl/lib/5.8.0 /opt/perl/lib/site_perl/5.8.0/sun4-solaris /opt/perl/lib/site_perl/5.8.0 /opt/perl/lib/site_perl . =============================================================== Cheers, Andy Bussey ===== Andy Bussey Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mobile 07814 740887 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
