I had no plans to revive them. I suppose they're an interesting design point midway between fully explicit (ours) and tree interpretation (Simon's and perl5). But I'm pretty sold on the explicit backtracking approach for the moment. Angel's speed demonstration has at least temporarily put to rest my lingering philosophical doubts about the general approach.
