That, I think, is unlikely to happen. Heck, you're hard-pressed to get
linux alone on a 1.44M floppy these days...
CD? Sure. Zip disk? Yeah, works. Maybe (just maybe) on those 2.88M
floppies. (Did anyone but DEC ('scuse me, TCFKAD) ship gadgets with those
on 'em?) But I think you're pushing it for 1.44M.
Possibly just the bare execution engine would fit--that may be doable. (You
might lose all the tack-on bits we've been wrangling over, as well as the
lexer (and thus string eval, do, and require) and any dynaloaded pieces,
but...)

I'd love to have perl fit in a microcontroller environment. I'm also *real*
up for a good perl->java translator. (A good friend I used to work for's
using JPython instead of perl because they need a good portable
self-contained GUI thingie. I am officially Annoyed about that... :)
