Hi Jacob,

Just some quick thoughts (may not be up to date):
- Greenstone is easy to install and use. Had sparse support for standards
when I used them. Uses proprietary db. Indexing takes lot of time. Difficult
to scale. USP: Ease of use.

- Fedora is built to support latest standards. Great architecture.
Complicated installation. Lack of good front-end tools. Needs lot of
end-user customization. Commercial tools from companies like VTLS (vtls.com)
such as VITAL, VALET (open source submission tool) can make it more useful.
Fedora is more of a components based tools to be used as building blocks of
a system rather than a system in itself.

My I recommend DSpace (dspace.org)? It has quite a strong community and is
backup by the likes of MIT and HP. Has nice front-end as well as easy to
customize and maintain. Built on open source tools (tomcat, postgres). Good
support of standards as well. Slightly difficult to install. But you can
request for installer (shell script) in the DLRG* mailing list.

Hope this helps.
