If that's the case then the leader/09 should contain 'a', which does exactly that -- turns off the conversion automatically. Also, this should only be happening when going from USMARC to MARCXML via MARC::File::XML. It's not a function of MARC::Record itself. Can you give us some more information about your data set and your process? There is probably a solution that doesn't involve changing the modules, but I can't be sure without more information. --miker
