Hi,

I just finished the first public version of a new Perl-API for handling
records in PICA+ format.

http://search.cpan.org/~voj/PICA-Record-0.3/

PICA+ is the internal data format of the Local Library System (LBS) and
the Central Library System (CBS) of OCLC PICA. A few weeks ago OCLC
bought the remaining parts of the cooperation with the Dutch Pica
foundation (Stichting Pica). PICA systems are used in most of German
library networks, the National Library of Germany, the National Library
of Australia, the French union catalogue ABES, the Dutch union
catalogue, and I heard of applications in the UK and South Africa.

Looks like PERL4LIB is dominated by MARC-users but maybe someone of
these or other PICA-using institutions is reading this list too?

PICA::Record is influences by MARC::Record but I used a different
architecture for parsing and writing. This is my first CPAN module so
helpful feedback is very welcome.

By the way I was very suprised that there is a SRU server module
(http://search.cpan.org/~bricas/SRU-0.96/lib/SRU.pm) but no SRU client!
The minimal SRU client that I wrote in PICA::Record for getting single
PICA records is only an experimental sketch:

http://search.cpan.org/~voj/PICA-Record-0.3/lib/PICA/SRUSearchParser.pm

Has anyone wrote a full SRU client in Perl yet?

Greetings,
Jakob
