I remember an exchange of emails on this subject some time ago, in which it was indicated that the use of alphabetic tags for user defined fields is in conformity with the MARC21standard.
I would like to create a couple such fields in our Aleph bib records for site-specific purposes, but only if I can be sure that I can process the fields with MARC::Record - otherwise I'll use 9xx fields. Can someone confirm from experience with such field tags that I'll have no problems doing so (or inform me that it's not yet possible ..).
