You should get the commandline debugger if you switch the PDK debugger to
remote mode and remove the PERLDB_OPTS environment
variable:
pdkdebug --remote
set PERLDB_OPTS=
perl d myprog.pl

Brian,
I got around it by:
1. copying perl5db.pl to Devel/perl5db.pm
2. Invoking my debugger as 'perl -dperl5db <program_name>'
I'm not sure what's going on here. It only started happening when I actually
bought the perl5 developers kit..

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I don't understand the question. When
I type 'perl -de0' or 'perl -d program' at the command line it starts
the perl debugger in command line mode. I am not familiar with a
perl5db_opts variable, but do you have an rc file that overrides the
default config (see 'Configurable Options' in 'perldoc perldebug')?
