Hi everyone,

The recent problems that Chris O noticed with linking to MSVCR71.dll are now
fixed. I'd like to apologize to anyone inconvenienced by the error, which I
should have caught myself.

Unfortunately in the big push to get everything ready for 5.10, the shiny new
Windows PPM build box ended up with a newer compiler than we use for the rest
of the build pipeline, which ended up linking to the wrong dll by default,
resulting, as Jan mentioned, in links to two different C runtime libraries.

PPMs downloaded from the ActiveState windows 5.10 repository between
approximately January 1st and February 26th, 2008 which contain any compiled
code (e.g., XS), and some new PPMs downloaded from the windows 5.8 repository
around the same time, will have this linking issue.

You may not notice this problem if you have other software on your machine
that has installed the Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1, or if you've
installed the framework for doing .NET development (MS Visual Studio 2003 .NET
includes it). MSVCR71.dll is part of the .NET 1.1 redistributable package.
However, we are still making sure it is fixed.

Cheers to Chris for spotting this.

Once again, sorry for the inconvenience -- we're working hard on making the
repositories better and better, and hopefully this is the last of the trip-ups
from the big 5.10 release. (It's hard to get much practice at major version
changes when they only happen every 5 1/2 years...) :)
