Fixed it ...
Worked around it I should say. The following code, which
specifies the READ_KEY access level (1), worked fine:
----
$key = $Registry->Open("LMachine/System/CurrentControlSet/Enum/",
{Access=>1}) || die "$^E\n"; ##Works
----
----
$key = $Registry->{"LMachine/System/CurrentControlSet/Enum/"} || die
"$^E\n"; ## Doesn't Work

Subject: Win32::TieRegistry
Windows XP
ActiveState Perl 5.8.7 build 815
I've seen this in the past with other keys, but I really need to work
heavily inside the Enum key now and this is running me into a wall.
I've stripped the code down to the simplest possible:
----
use Win32::TieRegistry ( Delimiter=>"/", ArrayValues=>0 );
$key = $Registry->{"LMachine/System/CurrentControlSet/Enum/"} ||
die "$^E\n";
----
This fails. Error message is: "The system could not find the
environment option that was entered". Change the key to
{".../CurrentControlSet/Control/"} or
{".../CurrentControlSet/Services/"} for example and it works just fine.
I've made no permission changes to the registry from what Windows
provides by default, I have access to this key through Regedit, and I
can read this key using any other 3rd party registry command-line
utility. Permissions are Everyone:Read, System:Full Control.
Anyone have any suggestions? TIA.
