Subject: question on net::ftp
I am transmitting a file to a mainframe host from my Windows PC.
Is there a difference between the following two ftp commands? If so, what is
it?
$ftp->site("recfm=fb lrecl=80 blksize=8000")
$ftp->quot("site recfm=fb lrecl=80 blksize=8000")
----------------------------------------
As far as I know, if they both work, then they'll both do the same thing.
You might find you sometimes need to provide the arguments as a list. For
example, on the FTP Server that I frequently use, I find that both of the
following work:
$ftp->quot('site chmod 0777',$file);
$ftp->site('chmod','0777',$file);
but if I try:
$ftp->quot('chmod', '0777', $filename);
then that produces, for me:
Net::FTP=GLOB(0x921f34)<<< 500 CHMOD not understood
My advice would be to use whichever incantation the server understands.
Cheers,
Rob
