Steven,
That's sortof what I expected, but figured if I could do it with Perl that's
what I would prefer.
Thanks,
Phil

Suresh,
I did not just "[go] clickty-click with the mouse", but I confess I did not
analyze the url string that my mail reader presented to me and observe that
there were three url's there, not one. Having almost no exposure to the
structure of url's, I did not notice that the full string would never reach
the site I wanted. What I DID do was back up several nodes till I found one
that worked, then worked forward from there and, as I stated in my message,
did not find anything that was helpful.
I apologize if you feel that I've wasted your time.
Regards,
Phil

Subject: RE: Working example of code that runs as EXCEL macro/module
What do you want this macro to do?
You can create an instance of the COM object that Exposes Excel to VB
(and any other language that understands COM -- like perl)..
---------------
use Win32::OLE;
$excel= Win32::OLE->new("Excel.Application");
But that's not code running like an Excel macro...
As far as I know, you can't run Perl code inside of Excel in VBA unless
it would take a VBS file or would understand a script language tag...
Like so (to direct it to the correct interpreter)..
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="PerlScript">
...whatever
</SCRIPT>
And again, I don't think this is possible. I've looked at doing
something similar inside of Outlook and couldn't make it work -- and was
forced to write VB.
Steven

If one examines the url provided (rather
than just going clickty-click with the mouse),
one can see how to get to their sites (see PS below).
However, those sites won't answer your need, viz:
"[you] want to run perl code as a function/module
inside EXCEL, in the same way that one can run VBA."
As far as I know, this cannot be done (since excel does
not come with perl embedded in it; and one can't
embed perl into excel without having the source for
excel).

The URL you provided does not work.
I was able to find some stuff under "jcmcnamara" in the URL where perl
is being used to create an excel file. This is not what I want to do. I
want to run perl code as a function/module inside EXCEL, in the same way
that one can run VBA.
Thanks,
Phil
