Hi,
I'll reply to all of this in one go rather than writing several very short
mails. Hope this is OK on the list:

Try "require" instead of "use", <snip>
Well, thanks for the tip, though I strongly suspect this is a DLL location
issue based on the error message. I tried using require with perl2exe but it
makes no difference in case of Win32::ActAcc.

Strange line number - for me (version 1.1), lines 148 to 155 are either
blank or a comment.
Well, I'm still using 1.0 as there was a compiled PPM package for it. The
line numbers may well differ.
As to other things I've tried. Placing both dll files (ActAcc.dll and
ActAccEM.dll) in the same directory where the exee is, the whole program
crashes but I don't get any errors related to LoadLibrary. Might perl2exe or
PAR make the environment somehow different enough from regular Perl that
some low-level functions like COM's in-context WinEvent handlers, that are
in the Win32::ActAcc dlls, mysteriously fail and crash the whole thing?
I've also been checking my included locations and modules. Here's some code
I tried:
use strict;
use bytes;
use Win32::OLE; # Required by Win32::ActAcc.
use Win32::ActAcc;
Win32::OLE->Initialize();
print "\nFiles used:\n";
print "$_ = $INC{$_}\n" foreach(sort keys %INC);
print "\nFile locations:\n";
print "$_\n" foreach(@INC);
# Win32::ActAcc::clearEvents();
The files used listing seems identical but the locations are certainly
different depending on whether I run as a plx script or after converting to
an exe.
C:\programming\plx>perl test2.plx
<snip>
File locations:
C:/Perl/lib
C:/Perl/site/lib
.
Where as the same output in the exe version is:
C:\tinyapps\perl2exe>test2.exe
<snip>
File locations:
PERL2EXE_STORAGE
C:\tinyapps\perl2exe
C:\DOCUME~1\vellu\LOCALS~1\Temp/p2xtmp-3684
<snipped nag-screen>
[I was running the exe in C:\tinyapps\perl2exe]
The files used listings seem to be identical in both cases apart from one
minor difference. Here's the listing from the exe version:
Files used:
AutoLoader.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/AutoLoader.pm
Carp.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Carp.pm
Config.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Config.pm
Data/Dumper.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Data/Dumper.pm
DynaLoader.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/DynaLoader.pm
Exporter.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Exporter.pm
Exporter/Heavy.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Exporter/Heavy.pm
Win32/ActAcc.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Win32/ActAcc.pm
Win32/ActAcc/AO.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Win32/ActAcc/AO.pm
Win32/ActAcc/Event.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Win32/ActAcc/Event.pm
Win32/ActAcc/Iterators.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Win32/ActAcc/Iterators.pm
Win32/ActAcc/Menu.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Win32/ActAcc/Menu.pm
Win32/ActAcc/MiscRoles.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Win32/ActAcc/MiscRoles.pm
Win32/ActAcc/Outline.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Win32/ActAcc/Outline.pm
Win32/ActAcc/Window.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Win32/ActAcc/Window.pm
Win32/OLE.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Win32/OLE.pm
Win32/OLE/Lite.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Win32/OLE/Lite.pm
XSLoader.pm = PERL2EXE_STORAGE/XSLoader.pm
auto/DynaLoader/dl_findfile.al =
PERL2EXE_STORAGE/auto/DynaLoader/dl_findfile.al
The difference is that the exe version has the last line about
auto/DynaLoader where as it is not present in the plx version. I -checked
this. What does the last line do and might it be significant here? It may
also be related to the internals of perl2exe and something not to worry
about, I guess.
As to packages, is there an easy way of making a PPM script (batch file)
that will install all packages needed by a particular Perl script? I'm
mainly thinking of distributing the code to people whom I've convinced to
install, and in some cases start learning, Perl already. That is I don't
recall which packages where already there at the time of installation as
I've added quite many of them afterwords. Searching based on date may also
fail, because of a recently run update all style command in PPM. I didn't
update precious, though, whatever that means.
PS: OS is the English XP SP 2 with all the latest fixes applied.
