Hi,
I am using Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 server and Windows XP. All computers are linked through a LAN or a WAN.
On the LAN I performed such actions:
sub myFun {
........
open(MY_HANDLER_I, "<\\machine1_network\directory\file_input");
open(MY_HANDLER_O, ">\\machine2_network\directory\file_output");
while(<MY_HANDLER_I>) {
print MY_HANDLER_O if $condition_satisfied;
}
close(MY_HANDLER_O);
close(MY_HANDLER_I);
........
}
This worked perfectly fine over a LAN. However, it is working in a kind of randomly successful state over a WAN.
I cannot understand what happens.
My Work Around is to try to copy the file to be accessed from the computer over the WAN to a LAN thanks to XCOPY.
Then work and perform my modifications.
And again copy the file back onto the computer located far over the WAN.
However, this solution is neither elegant, nor very good at a performance level.
Would someone know about a module that could help me performing such accesses or any work around to be able to modify a file over a WAN with Perl in a Win32 environment ?
Thanks a lot,
Kind regards,
Jean-Philippe
