I'm new to perl under windows and new to the Win32-GUI although it looks
very useful
for various projects. I agree wholeheartedly with previous comments on this
list about
difficulty identifying current versions etc of Win32-GUI and with
installation. I have
struggled with this for a couple of days and have got nowhere. So....

1. Is there a problem installing Win32-GUI with ActivePerl build 613 running
under Windows 2000 Professional (identifies as NT)? I have tried:

> ppm install --location=http://jenda.mccann.cz/perl Win32-GUI

which returns

> Error installing package 'Win32-GUI': Could not locate a PPM binary of
'Win32-GUI' for this
> platform

I've downloaded tar.gz archives, constructed ppd files and tried to install
from a local web server (same error message). I've tried to compile it
(Visual C 6.0) and had problems with macros being redefined, struct members
not found etc, I've searched the web, found lots of references to
http://Jenda.Krynicky.cz (never available) and tried every ppm/ppd I could
find. I'm beginning
to wonder if I'm trying to do something thatisn't possible.

Any ideas, any suggestions?

Iain

p.s. perl -V spit out...
